On June 15, the inauguration ceremony of the Phú Ninh Mineral Water Plant was held in Tam Dai Commune, Phu Ninh District, Quang Nam Province. The project is invested and developed by Hung Cuong Tourism Investment Joint Stock Company.
Phu Ninh Lake covers a watershed area of approximately 23,409 hectares, with a storage capacity of 344.106 million cubic meters and a total water surface area of over 3,400 hectares. It is considered the largest irrigation reservoir in the Central Highlands–Central Vietnam region. The mineral water source was discovered by the French in the early 20th century and was later utilized by the Japanese for mineral bathing in temporary resort facilities during the 1940s.
Beneath Phu Ninh Lake lies an extremely valuable natural hot mineral water deposit (approximately 70°C), which has been scientifically recognized as a stable mineral source with high quality, rich nutritional value, and abundant macro- and trace elements.
The Phú Ninh Mineral Water Plant was constructed and upgraded on the site of the former Phú Ninh Mineral Water Factory. The total project area is 5,757.9 square meters, with a licensed mineral water exploitation capacity of 100 cubic meters per day. The initial investment capital of the plant amounts to VND 43 billion.
Operating on a fully automated and closed production line, the plant is equipped with advanced systems such as ion-exchange filtration, reverse osmosis (RO), UV and ozone (O₃) treatment technologies, imported from Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United States.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Lê Phước Thanh, Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee, stated:
“The operation of this project not only contributes to the local economic and tourism development but also helps create stable employment opportunities for local residents.”
It is expected that from 2014 to 2019, the company will continue to expand its mineral water production lines, increasing output capacity to 24 cubic meters per hour. At the same time, infrastructure will be further developed to support the operations of the Phu Ninh Lake eco-resort and tourism area. The projected expansion investment is estimated to range from VND 50 to 100 billion.
At the 5th Quang Nam Heritage Festival, Phú Ninh Mineral Water is expected to be introduced to visitors as a distinctive local product, reflecting the cultural identity of Quang Nam Province.
